CARS Residential Addiction Recovery Center (RARC) is a 60-bed, Men’s SUD (Substance Use Disorder) treatment program for men located 90 minutes northwest of Binghamton and 90 minutes southwest of Syracuse in Trumansburg, New York.
We believe in a holistic approach to treatment, providing clients with not only addiction counseling, but vocational counseling, many and diverse group options, as well as recreational opportunities that support their recoveries. Our goal is to get each member of our community ready to transition back to independent life, with an understanding of their triggers and a safety plan in place to avoid relapse.

In addition to our counseling programs, we offer a wide variety of required and optional Wellness Services they may explore during their time with us:
Orientation & Case Management, Positive Psychology, Recovery Wellness, Recreation Group, Relapse Prevention, Seeking Safety, Spirituality, Thinking Reports, and Yoga.
Clients also have the opportunity to enjoy daily recreation activities, group games, and independent recreation activities.

Our admissions application will ask for information including medical history, mental health history, substance use, and goals for treatment. Once it is filled out and returned to us, we will review the application and follow up with an admissions decision.
Within 24 hours upon arrival, clients will complete checkups, meet with an addiction counselor, and get established with their case manager.
They will immediately begin working with their addiction counselor to develop a treatment plan.
On day one they will also be paired with a mentor, someone who can show them through the facility, help establish a schedule, and make their transition more comfortable.
Finally, the client and their primary counselor will work together to identify which groups they will participate in.
Most major insurances including Medicaid are accepted.

A sliding fee scale is offered for self-pay clients. We serve clients age 13 and older. Treatment is individualized, with services spanning from 6 to 18 months including aftercare services.
(1) Our Outpatient program (334 W. State Street, Ithaca) is available by walk-in Monday-Friday, 7am-4:30pm*, **
(2) Complete an intake form and sign consents
(3) Complete an assessment with the first available counselor
(4) If no counselors are available, or the individual does not want to or cannot wait, they are advised to wait or come back later or the next day
(5) If an assessment cannot be completed after the individual walks in three times, the assessment will be scheduled
* For adolescents discharging from CMC's BSU or an inpatient facility, as well as individuals releasing from incarceration, 607-273-5500 should be called for scheduling and medical records should be faxed
** Clients interested in methadone services should call 607-273-5500 to complete a screening and, once eligibility for methadone services is verified, intake will be scheduled
